I have been with the Department of Radio Astronomy of the TCfA (DRA; until 1996 Torun Radio Astronomy Observatory) since 1972, i.e. when I have finished studying at the Nicolaus Copernicus University. As a scientific worker for some 8 years I have been responsible for carrying out the solar observations at 127 MHz and their analysis (this eventually led to my Ph.D. in 1980). Then I engaged myself in the VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) methods and techniques, especially in applications of VLBI to astrometry and geodesy. Among my other scientific interests were: astronomical time and calendars (see e.g. a sundial design , conversion procedures for conversion of the Gregorian, Julian, Persian/Jalaali calendars and Julian Day Number, and Easter dating), ephemerides of the solar system bodies (Sun, Moon and planets; see e.g. my calculations of beginnings of seasons, zodiacal signs and of phases of the Moon – all till 2030), solar and lunar eclipses and certain aspects of radio astronomical instruments: receivers and telescopes (see e.g. some analyses related to our existing 32 m telescope and an offset paraboloid idea, OptiCass – a new software for developers of Cassegrain telescopes, and an analysis of BBC properties). Of about a hundred of my publications really only one seems to have aroused worldwide interest and firm acceptance: "Accurate Algorithms to Transform Geocentric to Geodetic Coordinates". After Warsaw authorities refused to approve my thesis for a higher scientific degree (defended in 1994), since 1996 I took a position devoted mainly to technical duties. An interesting scientific endevour I recently got involved into is a search for gravitational wave signals – first ever attempt of this kind (see also this link).

Privately, born in 1948, in 1981 I was married to Zsuzsanna Vizi (we parted in 2001) and we have three children aged now (2006) 18 to 24. My hobby are wonderful teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, a great contemporary Saint of South India believed by many to be the Avatar, i.e. Godhead descended on Earth (for more information on Him see these links).
