I am impressed by the extent of developments in each station so far reported to the TOG. I have comparatively little to offer here from the Torun station. Personnel Changes - none. ----------------- Brief Report of Last EVN Session -------------------------------- The May/June session passed here almost without unexpected problems (there was one power failure). However quite many of the experiments (all that used 8 BBCs) were affected by malfunctioning of two BBCs: no 5 and 8. At present it is difficult to predict the extent of the loss (first estimates should come from correlation of the tests R01C1 and N01C2). Logistics Problems Encountered Since Last TOG Meeting ----------------------------------------------------- One of tapes sent by FEDEX to Socorro from the February/March session has been lost on its way to the correlator site. Technical Problems Encountered Since Last TOG Meeting ----------------------------------------------------- There were (as usually) occasional problems with recordings of thin tapes in Nov 2000 and Feb 2001 sessions (no problems in the last session, for most of tapes were thick) and also with instable BBCs (less severly than in the last session). We experienced also a few jumps of the formatter time prior to the upgrade of the MKIV firmware. Changes/Upgrades Made to Hardware/Software ------------------------------------------ The upgrade to MKIV has been performed in March 2001. Initially we had a synch error reported. This was successfully eliminated by udjusting 5MHz and 1PPS signals (upon suggestions of Bonn magicians, Arno and Dave). Any Other Comments ------------------ The MKIV decoder has not been purchased due to financial limitations in this station. Second headstack will be mounted in JIVE only this Summer. There were problems in reading Torun VSOP tapes of Dec'00/Jan'01 (recorded with VLBA formatter) at the Mitaka correlator. A following check of a test tape at JIVE and later at Mitaka showed no real problems. (The JIVE involvement justifies reporting this here.) June 20, 2001 Kazimierz Borkowski
