EVN Station: Torun Author: Eugeniusz Pazderski, Kazimierz Borkowski Date: Sep 16, 1999 Personnel Changes ----------------- Roman Feiler, responsible for FS operation and VLBI sessions preparation is now emplyed for half time. Grzegorz Hrynek will gradually take over Roman's duties. Brief Report of Last EVN Session -------------------------------- Due to damage of the supply lines in the recorder VME mainboard the end of June session was unsuccessful (blank tapes). The new MkIV formatter was successfully prepared for the September session and looks to work well (it is up and working since 10th September). Occasionally high parity error rates are observed on several tracks. Logistics Problems Encountered Since Last TOG Meeting ----------------------------------------------------- NONE Technical Problems Encountered Since Last TOG Meeting ----------------------------------------------------- The new IF patching system has developed oscillations in one of its 16 channels during very hot days of Summer and has been temporarily dismounted. There were minor problems with one of digital motors at the azimuth axis: the controller's fun was not efficient enough to work at these nearly tropical conditions. Our GPS Station Clock (by Trak Systems) has failed; we are in the process to buy a new one. Changes/Upgrades Made to Hardware/Software ------------------------------------------ 1. A new two-channel UHF receiver has been constructed and mounted. Its passbands are 780 to 925 and 965 to 1105 MHz. The system uses the L-band feed to illuminate the secondary mirror so it's efficiency is rather poor (10 - 15 %). 2. The latest version of the FS (9.4.1) is installed. 3. IF patching added.
